A course for aspiring skippers with some yachting experience and basic navigation and sailing skills.
A DAY SKIPPER course is for more experienced sailing crew, in which students learn how to take charge of a yacht and its crew. It is not for the beginner because you will be expected to be able to sail and navigate to DAY SKIPPER standard, having taken a shore-based course before attending.
Most people undertake a forty-hour shore based course at their local college or yacht club during the winter months but we can run them in Turkey with the instructor’s fee being shared between the students.
5 days, 100 miles, 4 night hours on board a sailing yacht.
Basic navigation and helmsmanship. It is recommended you attend the Day Skipper shorebased course beforehand.
5 days, 3 weekends or 3 days plus 2 days.
Preparation for sea, deck work, navigation, pilotage, meteorology, rules of the road, maintenance and repair work, engines, victualling, emergency situations, yacht handling under power, yacht handling under sail, passage making, night cruising.
On successful completion of the practical course you will be certified competent to skipper a yacht by day in familiar waters.
This certificate is recognized by most maritime authorities throughout the world and automatically qualifies you for an International Certificate of Competence (ICC) if you live in the UK.
